How it works
Three steps from photo to guidance.
01
Upload a photo
Add a clear picture of one item. An optional description, such as “empty glass jar”, gives the model extra context.
02
Identify and inspect
Vision models name the item and its material, then check separately for cracks, holes or leaks, and severe deformation.
03
Get guidance
Disposal advice, preparation steps and warnings come from fixed rules in the backend, never from the model's own wording.
What it can tell you
Every result falls into one of these categories.
Plastic
Bottles, containers, packaging film
Paper / Cardboard
Boxes, newspapers, paper bags
Metal
Cans, tins, foil, utensils
Glass
Jars, bottles, drinking glasses
Organic
Food scraps, garden waste
Electronic
Cables, chargers, small devices
General waste
Items that fit no recycling stream
Unknown
Shown whenever identification is unreliable
Good to know
Honest limits, so you can use the results sensibly.
Confidence is an estimate
The percentage is not measured accuracy. Anything below the backend's threshold is reported as unknown rather than guessed.
Local rules always win
Guidance is general. Recycling programs differ by city, so check your local waste authority before disposing.
“Unable to assess” is not “fine”
If condition checks fail or the photo is unclear, the result says so. It never implies an item is undamaged.
Photo quality matters
Use good light, keep the item centred, and avoid piles. One item per photo gives the most reliable result.
